Voices for Children #11 - Dr. Kurt Olsen, Ph.D.

Dr. Kurt Olsen, Ph.D., is a professor of psychology at Lycoming College in Williamsport, PA. He ran a private practice for years and has his Ph.D. in clinical psychology. He talks about what happens to a child's brain when they are abused and how this impacts their development and integration into society. Other topics include: conducting scientific experiments on the effects of trauma, issues of communication with electronic devices, and much more.

Voices for Children #10 - Beverly Hoffman

Beverly Hoffman is a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteer and child advocate for Susquehanna Valley CASA. She has been a CASA for several years and is on her fourth case. She talks about her experience as an advocate, the patterns she's seen in the families of each child, what she thought about abuse before she became an advocate, and much more.

Dr. Heather Feldhaus, Ph.D. is a sociology professor at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania. She talks about impermanent housing among impoverished people, the economic effects of incarceration among communities and families, and how prisoners up for parole are withheld from being released until they have housing.
